Beethoven: Opus 12 and 13

Andrew Roberts (classical violin) and John Irving (fortepiano) combine their long experience of historical performance and research to present three violin sonatas, opus 12, and the ‘Pathétique’ sonata, opus 13, for piano. The concert is a rare opportunity to hear four early masterpieces played on instruments from Beethoven’s Vienna of the 1790s.

John and Andrew have worked together many times, exploring sonatas by Mozart and Beethoven and giving concerts in London and Bristol. John’s piano is a copy by Paul McNulty of a 5-octave Viennese Grand by Anton Walter.
